Internet crime is increasing rapidly as more and more people are using the internet to make financial transactions.
What can be done to tackle this problem?

Internet, a boon of modern science, has also become a bane with the rise in cybercrime in recent times. Although the term cybercrime encompasses a wide range of criminal activities, financial transactions are the prime target of cybercriminals. Many suggestions have been put forward by experts to tackle this issue such as enforcing strict laws against cybercrimes and spreading awareness among people about potential threat of online fraud.

Cyberspace is a common heritage of ours and it should be free of any trouble or cybercrime. To achieve this aim, there should be laws to address the important issues of security. This will protect people from fraudulent transactions which will make the transactions over the internet safer and easier. Not just passing the law is sufficient, special attention should be paid to equip the law enforcement agencies with latest equipment as well as highly trained personnel to track down the cyber criminals. Thus, law enforcement and timely execution can save people from being victims of cybercrime

Moreover, it is not only the supervision that is important. A person should be appropriately educated to be aware of the dangers in the virtual environment and should know the basic self-protection techniques. There should be campaigns such as “cyber security awareness week” where people are made aware of the techniques employed by cyber criminals to lure people into a trap, at the same time there should be also the education of existing cyber security laws against such kind of fraudulent activities.
