Word Count : 82

Walking is universally regarded as the most popular aerobic physical activity and health benefits derived from this simple activity are numerous. Yet, it is being observed that recently there is a sharp decline in its popularity among people as a form of exercise. This decline has been attributed to a variety of factors, a hectic lifestyle is one among them. This essay discusses the causes as well as the ways to tackle the decreasing popularity of walking as a form of exercise.

Supporting Paragraph (1)
Word Count : 80

The standard excuse people make about not taking a walk is their busy schedule. Between kids, commuting, work and other responsibilities of life people find it difficult to spare some time for going for a 15-minute walk. Then there are other reasons such as not having good walking tracks or gardens where one can do morning-walk in a natural environment. And the lack of motivation is also responsible for people not giving priority to walking as a form of exercise.

Supporting Paragraph (2)
Word Count : 98

There are many ways one can deal with this problem. The first thing one can do to overcome laziness is that one should self motivate oneself. There should be small and realistic goals about walking exercise. Rather than taking a vigorous walk for an hour, one should walk leisurely 20-minutes a day for a month. Then he should gradually increase the pace as well as the duration of his walk. Another way is to try using equipment such as a treadmill at home, if there are no facilities like a garden or a walking track in the neighborhood.
