Sample Answer
I really love spending my leisure time with kids.
My younger brother Prince is now 15 years old, but when he was quite young, it was a very lovely time for me.
Because I loved to play with him, and he was a very cute boy who always smiled and rarely cried.
In my neighborhood there are little kids with whom I play occasionally.
But, it was a completely different thing when I used to play with my brother.
My brother was my best companion when I was quite young.
Nowadays, I rarely get a chance to spend the entire day with a kid.
But, last month I got the opportunity to spend an entire day with a cute cousin of mine.
His name is Preet. Preet is 5 years old and he is my uncle Ghanshyambhai’s son.
Preet is a very lovely boy who wins our heart with his beautiful smile.
He never throws tantrums at anyone.
Last month, his parents had to attend a social function,, and they asked me to take care of Preet during their absence.
I went to their house very early in the morning
Preet likes to watch Superman movies.
And they have a home theater system, so we enjoyed watching a Superman movie while munching on popcorns made by Preet’s mother Sapanaben.
Their neighbor Mrs. Mitaben is a very kind lady. We had our lunch at her house. She treated us like her own children.
In the afternoon, Preet and I played some board games.
It is very funny to play with Preet as he always wants to win in any game. And it is very delightful to let him win, even by allowing him to cheat, because when he wins he gives a very cute smile.
After that we played hide-and-seek inside his house. His house is very spacious and there is enough room for us to hide and enjoy that game.
In the evening I took him to a nearby park where he played cricket with other kids.
They were all very innocent, and their childish fights and quarrels gave me a great occasion to laugh.
From them I learned the importance of ‘letting-go’ and ‘living in the present moment‘.
After that we ate chocolate ice-cream at the park.
Preet had two cups of ice-cream, and he also demanded a big scoop from my ice-cream cup too.
When we came home, Preet’s parents had already returned, and Preet was very excited to meet his parents.
Then we all had our dinner at Preet’s house.
Preet’s mother is a cook par excellence.
She has raised cooking to an exquisite art form.
Overall, it was a very enjoyable day as we made many beautiful memories on that day.
If in future, I get an opportunity to spend time with my cousin Preet, I will definitely grab that opportunity.
IELTS SPEAKING TEST
Part 3
Do you think children will benefit from following all the rules?
It is a subjective matter. Some rules are for their better future, and these are set by their parents or teachers who have nothing in their hearts except a wish for a better future for the kids.
But, at the same time, children should be taught to be free thinkers. Rules are necessary for a good life. At the same time, children should apply some logic and should be able to understand whether a rule is good or just a restriction on them.
If it’s an arbitrary rule which makes their lives miserable, then they should also rebel against it.
Who is more concerned about children’s disciplined behaviour? a mother or a father?
I can’t answer for all children. But, I can surely talk about myself.
There was never a moment in my childhood when I felt that either my father or my mother was more concerned about my obedient behaviour.
They both were equally concerned, and did their best to instil virtues in me.
Of course, they both had their limitations, especially my father is the main bread-winner of my family, so, he had to spend a lot of time at his workplace.
But, whatever time he and I spent together, I was the sole object of his affection. He and my mother were always very attentive to my needs, and under their watchful eyes I never strayed from my path.
