Sample Answer
Our nation is very crazy about cricket. Even in the remotest villages of India, where even electricity has just reached, people are quite aware of recent events in cricketing world.
Cricketers are worshiped as gods by this huge mass of cricket fans. And that madness about cricket has led to many TV producers to create sports shows based on cricket.
In this busy life, I hardly get a chance to watch all those interesting shows.
Yet, there is one show that I hardly miss to watch every Thursday at 10 at night.
The name of that show is ‘Cricketing Legends’.
Here the veteran cricketing legend Kapil Dev analyses the playing style of cricketers from different countries.
He explains in detail about each player’s strengths and weaknesses.
Previously ESPN used to air this show, but since last year it has been appearing on Star Sports channel.
Kapil Dev was the captain of India. Under his aegis (or captainship) India won its first World Cup in the year 1983.
He comes from a northern state called Haryana , and as he speaks English with a heavy Indian accent, we can easily understand what he wants to say.
It is quite difficult to follow an Aussie cricketer when he delivers his speech on a TV show. But, Kapil Dev is an Indian, and his English has its Indian flavor so it sounds very sweet to hear it.
He is a northerner, and these people are known for their sharp sense of humor. This brilliant raconteur cracks jokes and tells many amusing anecdotes while talking about cricket.
As my father himself is an avid reader of sports columns in newspapers, he too enjoys this show very much.
Often we watch this show together after dinner.
If sometimes he misses any episode, he watches its repeat telecast on Sunday evening.
My mom sometimes gets annoyed when we father and son watch this show without paying any attention to what is going around us.
I love playing cricket, and this show is very informative too.
I learned the technique of ‘straight drive’ from this show.
Australian cricket player David Warner is famous for it, and when I watched an episode on his techniques, I learned this technique.
I would recommend this program to all cricket fans and to anyone who wants to play cricket professionally.

IELTS SPEAKING TEST
Part 3
What sports are popular in India?
India is not a country, it is a continent, in my opinion.
Each state is as big as a small country. To single out one sport out of myriad sports that are popular here among a billion Indians is not possible.
For instance, people in my state love cricket. In West Bengal which is in the western part of India, football is their religion.
In northern states, they play hockey, and wrestling is also very popular there.
But, I can say that cricket is more or less played and followed by almost all the Indians.
Yet, these days Indians are taking interest in tennis and badminton too.
How can parents encourage their children to play any sport?
There are many ways to do that. But, in my opinion, they must make sure that the child is actually interested in a particular sport.
Forcing a child to play something against his/her will would make the child hate that sport.
If a child is interested in a particular sport, then parents’ job is to provide quality equipment. They should also get their children professional coaching facilities.
And then their role ends. They should never burden their children with too much expectations regarding performance.
Does sport play an important role in children’s development?
Yes, it does. For physical development and improvement of motor-skills, there is no other more effective way than letting children play any sport.
It should be natural though. Sports should be for their pleasure only.
It’s a medicine, which, if not taken in a moderate dose, would act as a poison if taken in an excess amount.
