In this 21st century time is the new currency. We all have been given the same amount of time for each day- that is 24 hours.
But, we don’t use it wisely, and then we complain about (grumble about) not having enough time.
I read in the autobiography of Mahatma Gandhi that we all must respect the value of time, and we must implement new methods so that we can allot our time to some fruitful activities rather than do something that wastes our precious time.
I work at a co-operative bank that was founded in 1969.
Although the calendar has changed many times since 1969, our management still seems to be using the old calendar.
I mean to say their mindset is quite antiquated.
And it is quite difficult to convince them to change their ways.
They ask us to use old typewriters at home to type official documents which is a very time consuming process.
This is the age of computers and laser printers. We can have multiple copies of a document in a jiffy.
A typewriter can’t perform this fast. And I always requested my seniors to replace the typewriters with laptops. But my request always fell on deaf ears.
Then last year I decided to buy a laptop for myself.
I bought a new Lenovo X34d laptop from the Reliance Digital Mall.
Initially it was quite difficult for me to switch to a laptop from my old typewriter.
A typewriter needs heavy keystrokes whereas a laptop doesn’t require that much pressure.
And laptop comes with programs like MS-Office that I needed to learn.
I took computer lessons from a teacher who taught me MS-word and MS-Excel.
It took me around 2 months to learn it all.
And then, the magic happened. Whenever my seniors asked me to type a document or make copies of a document, I would finish it before the deadline.
I feel happy about my decision. If I had waited for my seniors to give me a laptop, then I would never have purchased it myself and I also would not have learned MS-Office programs that have made my work quite easier than it used to be before the laptop.
