A city you would like to live in

Today, the whole world is fascinated by the concept of megacities.

And people from small towns are dreaming of moving to a big city where there are myriad ways one can make it big

If you ask me about my country, then there is one city which is called “The City of Dreams”.

For travelers/visitors

To a foreigner, my country presents a kaleidoscopic image with its myriad colorful cultures.

To recommend one city or a place out of hundreds of places would be an injustice to the others.

But this is a subjective matter, and if I were to choose a city for visitors, I would invariably choose …………………….. ( name of the city) ………………. as the perfect destination.

Speaking Task (An Interesting Person)

Old Buildings

Our city Ahmedabad is the perfect combination of old and new buildings.

Some old buildings dates back to the early 16th century.

Yes, they are our heritage. It is the collecting link between the past and the present.

These buildings have witnessed history, and they are the monuments to some great historical events.

Meeting Places

When old friends meet after a long time, the meeting place is not very important to them.

But friends who meet regularly, they need a particular place which suits their needs. Coffee lovers would prefer a café as much as tea drinkers would a tea stall.

And each meeting place has many stories attached to it.

If we go there after a long time, we reminisce about those old days.

Evening time

Sometimes it is quite melancholic, especially during the monsoon season. At that time, the sky is overcast, and everything seems gloomy at that time.

Computers

I would be like a fish without water.

Computers are my lifeline.

In this Digital Era, I would feel crippled without a digital device like a personal computer.

Collecting things

I like to collect things as souvenirs when I visit a place or go to a relative’s house.

It’s not an expensive hobby, as I only collect things that are either given to me as gifts or I have bought them from thrift shops or a roadside vendor.

I am against the hoarding of useless things. I keep only those things that are of some use to me. Otherwise, I have no qualms about discarding them.

Boring things

As a student, I have faced many boring lectures where the lecturer was barely audible to the person sitting next to him.

This happens with many septuagenarian professors at my university. They are learned men, but, they make things boring by murmuring instead of speaking loudly.

My grandma used to take me to a community center where old people would talk about spiritual things. Till this date, I can’t understand why she used to took me there. But, it was a torture for me as I would eagerly wait for that meeting to over, so that I could go to play cricket with my friends.
