Assignment Day 5

IELTS Speaking Task
Favorite Movie

Sample Template :

I usually prefer watching a …………………. movie , rather than a ……………………………….movie when I want to have a good time after a long tiring week.

I don’t get the chance to do that often. But, luckily, I got it 4 months ago when it was my birthday (or my wife’s birthday … or my mother’s birthday… or my father’s birthday….)

We all family members celebrated that day by going to our favorite restaurant, and after that we went to a multiplex to watch the movie …………………….

This was an action-movie, and not just me, but my son also loved it.

The movie had this eponymous protagonist who fought against the villain and killed him.

The story is just like the one we read in our story-books for children.

But, it had grand visuals that we had not seen before in any other Indian movies.

There were war scenes that were very exciting to watch. And there was this hero called ……………………….. who did justice to his role of …………………

I would give 10 on 10 to ………………….’s performance. And I can also say the same for the villain …………………………

As I believe that the stronger the villain, the greater the chance for the hero to prove his heroism.

And there were other interesting characters too in that movie. I liked the character of ……………………who was ……………………’s sidekick.

I also liked the brief romance between ……………….and his love-interest …………………

And our Indian movies are incomplete without songs. This movie had some beautiful songs that I enjoyed very much.

Overall, it was a nice movie that had all the elements to make it a blockbuster movie of that year. And we all loved to see it on big screen.

Try different names of the movies in the blanks, and practice speaking it. Try at least 5 movie names and speak for each by putting suitable names in the blanks.

IELTS SPEAKING PART 1

INTRODUCTION

What work do you do?

I work as a branch manager at Kalupur Commercial Bank which is a multi-state-scheduled bank.

Why did you choose to do that type of work (or that job)?

I studied accountancy and did my Bachelor’s degree in that subject. So I wanted to work in a field that suited my aptitude. And luckily, I found a job that demands the proficiency in this subject.

Do you like your job?

Yes, I do. And I love it. I hail from Bania community that has the tradition of working with numbers and our ancestral profession was that of money-lending. Where else can I find this type of work other than a bank?

Is it very interesting?

As a branch manager, my role has evolved into a combination of many roles into one. I deal with not just my superiors or juniors at bank, but I also need to listen to the complaints of angry clients and do my best to solve their issues. It is a very demanding job. But the rewards are many. I like to smile on the faces of satisfied customers, and that is my true reward.

Do you miss being a student?

Of course I do. They were the best years of my life. And I truly miss those days.

QUESTION TOPICS HAVE BEEN TAKEN FROM MakkarIELTS book.

Accommodation

What kind of Housing/Accommodation do you live in?

I live in a semi-detached house that has two storeys.

Please describe it a little.

My house has traditional architecture. It has two bedrooms, a large drawing room, a study room for my kids, and a nice kitchen. And there is a small garden I have cultivated in my compound. There is a little balcony on the first floor just outside the study room. It affords a lovely view of the garden , and I often spend my evenings enjoying tea in the balcony.

What’s your favorite room in your house?

The study room, without any doubt. When kids are around, I spend my time outside in the balcony – to enjoy the cool winter breeze. But when they are playing in the garden, I like to spend some peaceful time in the study room – either reading spiritual books or listening to devotional songs.

What have you done to your room to make it look nice?

I have kept it very simple and tried my best not to stuff it with unnecessary things. You will not find anything here that is just for decoration purposes.  Only an image of Lord Krishna I have hanged on its wall as I am a devotee of Lord Krishna and the image brings positivity to the room.

Who do you live with?

I live with my wife and my two kids.

Which room does your family spend most of the time in?

On Sundays we all are in the drawing room as it has a TV , and we like watching TV shows – especially comedy shows- together. Otherwise , on any weekday, kids are either in the garden or in their study room. My wife would be in kitchen and I would be in the drawing room or in the garden.

How long have you lived here?

This house was built by my father and I have been living here since my birth.

Do you plan to live there a long time?

As I am planning to emigrate to Canada, I can’t spend the rest of my life in that house. But I am deeply attached to it, and perhaps I may never be able to disconnect it from myself.

What do you usually do in your house?

It is a place where I try to spend some quality time with family. So I try to be with my kids and wife , and take part in whatever activity they are engaged in. If they are watching a movie then I also watch it. If they are playing a board game , then I also play it with them. And if they are not around, then I read spiritual books or watch some interesting news on TV.

Are the transport facilities to your home very good?

There is a bus-station just across the road from our housing colony. And just a few blocks away there is a railway station too. So we don’t find any difficulty when we want to go to some some place. And we have a scooter that we use when we want to reach there urgently.

Do you plan to move? Why?

Yes. For better career prospects for myself, and for my kids’s education, I want to move to Canada. In search of greener pastures I will have to leave this place that I call my home.

Are you prepared to move?

Yes, I am. I have made all the preparations for the emigration to Canada.
